About Suzanne Collins
Suzanne Collins, born on August 10, 1962, is an American author and TV writer. She is famous for writing The Hunger Games, a dystopian book series for young adults. Additionally, she is the creator of The Underland Chronicles, a fantasy series for children.
Her parents were Jane Brady Collins and Lieutenant Colonel Michael John Collins, a U.S. Air Force officer. Suzanne is the youngest of four siblings. Growing up in a military family, they moved frequently, and Suzanne spent her early years in the eastern United States.
In 1980, Collins graduated from the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham with a major in Theater Arts. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1985, with a double major in theatre and telecommunications. Furthering her education, Collins obtained a Master of Fine Arts in dramatic writing from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 1989.
